• R&D Mission Boosts Vietnamese Interest in U.S. Permeate

    Nine research and development/technical staff from Vietnamese bakery and confectionery manufacturers participated in a technical training reverse trade mission to the United States, August 3-9, 2014.

    The focus was on elevating awareness and sparking usage of U.S. whey/milk permeate ingredients in Vietnam's growing packaged food sector. The mission kicked-off with presentations by USDEC and the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research representatives on the functional, sensory and cost saving advantages alongside the key usage applications and supply capacity of U.S. whey and milk permeate. The group also met with five U.S. permeate suppliers, participated in a hands-on bakery and confectionery applications training session at Knechtel, and toured both a dairy farm and permeate processing plant in Wisconsin.
